The resurrection of the King of the Coming Kingdom of God is the cotter pin of the Christian faith. Pull this pin out, and it all falls apart. But the resurrection is a fact!

Jared Wilson: “If the resurrection isn’t true, we should all go home. Religion makes a lame hobby.”

Chuck Colson: “I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead, then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Everyone was beaten, tortured, stoned, and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren’t true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world-and they couldn’t keep a lie for three weeks. You’re telling me 12 apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible.”

John Stott: “We live and die; Christ died and lived!”

Tim Keller: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”

Peter Kreeft: “Why would the apostles lie? Liars always lie for selfish reasons. If they lied, what was their motive, what did they get out of it? What they got out of it was misunderstanding, rejection, persecution, torture, and martyrdom. Hardly a list of perks!”

Gavin Ortlund: “It is wonderful to live on this side of the resurrection and ascension. The book of Acts feels very different from Numbers or Kings. It’s like fighting the Nazis in 1944 rather than 1941.”

Frederick Buechner: “The resurrection of Jesus means the worst thing is never the last thing.”

Billy Graham: “There is more evidence that Jesus rose from the dead than there is that Julius Caesar ever lived or that Alexander the Great died at the age of thirty-three.”

N.T. Wright: “The resurrection completes the inauguration of God’s kingdom. . . It is the decisive event demonstrating that God’s kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven. The message of Easter is that God’s new world has been unveiled in Jesus Christ and that you’re now invited to belong to it.”

Adrian Rogers: “The resurrection is not merely important to the historic Christian faith; without it, there would be no Christianity. It is the singular doctrine that elevates Christianity above all other world religions.”

Art Azurdia: “The resurrection was the Father’s ‘Amen’ to Jesus saying ‘It is finished’.”

Lee Strobel: “I went to a psychologist friend and said if 500 people claimed to see Jesus after he died, it was just a hallucination. He said hallucinations are an individual event. If 500 people have the same hallucination, that’s a bigger miracle than the resurrection.”

William Lane Craig: “The fact that the Christian fellowship, founded on belief in Jesus’ resurrection, could come into existence and flourish in the very city where he was executed and buried seems to be compelling evidence for the historicity of the empty tomb.”

Tony Merida: “Genesis ends with Joseph’s death. Deuteronomy ends with Moses’ death. Joshua ends with Joshua’s death. The Gospels end with Jesus’ resurrection. And that changes everything.”

Barry McCarty: “The earliest Christians believed in the resurrection not because they couldn’t find a dead body but because they found a living Christ.”

The Apostle Paul: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all…He appeared to me also.”

D.A. Carson: ”You are not suffering from anything that a good resurrection can’t fix.”

Eugene Peterson: “The resurrection of Jesus is the action at the core of all Christian spiritual formation.”

Michael Bird: “If our theology is gospel-driven, the resurrection will permeate every facet of Christian thought. We can contemplate Christ only as the risen Lord.”

Ross Clifford & Philip Johnson: “The apostles understood the resurrection as the lynchpin of Christianity—integral to every aspect of life and thought—and therefore so should we.”

D.A. Carson: “The entire Bible pivots on one weekend in Jerusalem about two thousand years ago. Attempts to make sense of the Bible that do not give prolonged thought to integrating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are doomed to failure, at best exercises in irrelevance.”

C.S. Lewis: “To preach Christianity meant primarily to preach the Resurrection…the Resurrection is the central theme in every Christian sermon reported in the Acts. The Resurrection, and its consequences, were the ‘gospel’ or ‘good news’ which the Christians brought.”

C. S. Lewis: “He has forced open a door that has been locked since the death of the first man. He has met, fought, and beaten the King of Death. Everything is different because He has done so. This is the beginning of the New Creation: a new chapter in cosmic history has opened.

Christians for 2,000 years: “He is risen. He is risen indeed!”

Jesus Christ: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
